Family

Stable families raise successful children and keep our communities together. Crime, drug usage, abuse, and poverty are less prevalent in stable homes. The strength of Hawaii emanates from our diversity, our strong families, our various faiths, our mutual respect and trust, and our community involvement.

Our government’s role should be to engender an environment in which they are given the tools and opportunities to succeed. We must encourage the values of individual initiative and community responsibility in Hawaii. I want to help families recover from abuse, find loving homes for our foster children, feed the hungry and give those in need the means they need to get back on their feet. In difficult situations, family, faith and community are often at the heart of the welfare of our people.

These factors are the most effective and ideal mechanisms for remedying many of society’s problems. I believe in traditional marriage. Hawaii Nei is an exceptional place ideally designed to nurture life in all its forms. The people of Hawai‘i understand the fragility and priceless worth of life in all its stages from our keiki to our küpuna. All individuals, including the unborn, disabled, and terminally ill, are deserving of equal protection of their lives under the law.
